On Tuesday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that she would play viral video game "Among Us" live on Twitch alongside popular streamers Pokimane and HasanAbi to "help folks make a voting plan at iwillvote.com."
Per Ocasio-Cortez's tweet, she will stream the game on her Twitch channel, which has over 225,000 followers, at 9 PM EST on Tuesday. She also added that they'll "officially declare orange sus," referencing a term that's become popular in "Among Us" as shorthand for "suspicious."

On Monday, Ocasio-Cortez originally put out a call on Twitter for people to play the explosively popular game with her as part of a get out the vote effort, and everyone from Pokimane to beauty influencer James Charles wanted in.
A tweet from the representative, whose love and knowledge of video games was already known, said "anyone want to play Among Us with me on Twitch to get out the vote? (I've never played but it looks like a lot of fun)."

"Among Us" is a four to 10 player hidden role game from developer InnerSloth that you can play online, either with strangers or with friends. At the beginning of each game, you're assigned a role. "Crewmates" go about tasks like fixing wiring or running medical scans, while "Imposters" try to kill crewmates and not get caught doing so.
It's one of 2020's explosive video game hits, despite the fact that it was originally released in 2018. Per Kotaku, the game began gaining popularity internationally, with content creators in South Korea and Brazil picking up on it in 2019. When American Twitch streamer Chance "Sodapoppin" Morris picked up on the game in 2020, it began to explode in the United States as well. Popular among streamers given the game's propensity for sparking passionate debate, it's also enjoyed renewed fandom on platforms like TikTok as well.
Soon after Ocasio-Cortez's tweet, plenty of streamers were in her mentions offering to play.
"It'd be an honor," Pokimane, a Twitch streamer with approximately 6 million followers on the platform, responded.
Twitch streamer and political commentator Hasan Piker, who has approximately 580,000 followers on the platform on his channel HasanAbi, quote retweeted Pokimane's tweet, saying, "we're already making a lobby @AOC."

Ocasio-Cortez replied to both streamers that she was in, saying in her reply to Pokimane's tweet that she was going to set up an account and get the necessary equipment.

Other streamers and internet personalities were in the replies to Ocasio-Cortez's original tweet as well, including beauty influencer James Charles (who recently posted video of his first time playing "Among Us"), pop artist and TikToker mxmtoon, and streamer Neekolul, who went viral on Twitter earlier this year for her "ok boomer" video.
Not long after Ocasio-Cortez's original tweet, she was set up and verified on Twitch. Approximately an hour after she tweeted a link to the channel, it already had over 60,000 followers.
This piece was updated on October 20, 2020 to include Representative Ocasio-Cortez's tweet confirming that she would be streaming "Among Us" with Pokimane and HasanAbi.
