Kate Middleton and Prince William announce the birth of their third child — a baby boy

• Kate Middleton gave birth to a baby boy on Monday, April 23. 
• A statement from Kensington Palace said that, "her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs."
• She and Prince William already have two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

There's a new royal baby in town.

Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed a baby boy Monday, April 23, according to a tweet released by Kensington Palace.

The baby was born at 11:01 a.m. GMT (7:01 a.m. EST) and weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces. The name has yet to be announced, but both mother and son are doing well, according to the statement. Prince William was present for the birth. 

This is the Duke and Duchess' third child — 4-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte now have a new brother. The new royal birth bumps Prince Harry down to sixth in line for the throne.

The queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, and other members of both families are "delighted" with the news, according to an earlier tweet.
